Viviparous Lizards are fairly common throughout Ireland. Not often you get to see one though.

Viviparous / Common Lizard is fairly common in Ireland, particularly the east coast....It's the only lizard found in Ireland....

I've seen a few out on Inis Mór. One just last week on the rocks back near Dun Aonghus.
A couple of years ago we lifted the mop in the house to find a lizard curled up asleep underneath!

So I don't have to run for the hills ??

Was in our garden in Mayo.

Unless your photograph is very deceptive and it was actually this guy you photographed, then no.

Adding your sighting here (http://records.biodiversityireland.ie/) would be useful in recording how widespread the species is in Ireland.

I came across this little guy this afternoon, anyone know what the little black sacks to rear of the left leg are?? Parasites maybe??

They look like ticks to me, but I have no idea if lizards are prone to them or not.

Those are ticks all right. Saw an awful photo recently where a snake had its head completely covered in them :(

I thought that's what they looked like, but was unsure whether they'd be able to penetrate the scales / skin of a reptile. I guess I know the answer now!
