when you plug it in take a close listen to it . can you hear the hard drive spinning up ? or any other noise like a click ?

open it ,make sure data ,power cables are plugged in tight to hardrive.then try it in pc.
You may need to buy 2.5 or 3.5inch sata caddy to get acess to hardrive.
pcb board to hardrive maybe loose or damaged,
chances are hard disk is ok.
do not touch hardrive pcb circuit board, hold by the sides .http://www.dabs.ie/products/best-value-2-5--sata-hdd-enclosure-aluminium-usb-2-0-5JFF.html
drives over 500gig are likely 3.5in ,need 3.5inch caddy.

There's a good chance it is just the enclosure at fault, especially if it wasn't powered on when dropped. A cheap enclosure or USB adapter cable is a cheap way to test it if you don't have a desktop PC to plug it in to try it.
