    Hi all,

between budgetary constraints/work/real life, it seems that we'll only get to take a holiday in mid-October and we're looking (due to said budget) at Costa del Sol or the Algarve.

Can anyone give any pointers on what sort of weather we might expect?

Also, as I've never been to the Algarve, are there any resorts to avoid or that one would particularly recommend? Couple, travelling with a three-year-old, if that helps with recommendations.

    Thanks in advance. :)

we go to albufeira every year in late october / early november (mid term break). the past 2 years we've had 24degrees and had a few days on the beach with the kids. if you are going to the algarve, pick one of the bigger resorts as things start to go quiet late september when the season starts to finish up.

went to albuferia this year (last week of july) and ayia napa two years ago (last week of october) would defo recommend ayai napa over albuferia, its a lot cheaper there and beaches are nicer. would probably go back to ayia napa but maybe earlier in october than the last week as november seems to be the cut off point for tourism in these countries.

as with most sun holidays, u have to be willing to travel a bit from the big resorts to find the nicest beaches, as they are less crowded. in ayia napa you can rent atv's for small money to get around, in algarve u cant. dont get me wrong , albuferia is very nice but is as expensive as ireland to go and have a 3 course meal of good food.
