Anyone know if it's possible to get some type of grass seed which could be used?
Machines have destroyed much of the grass cover so interested to see if it's possible do some remedial work. Plus the place may not look as wet! This is for working bog not cutaway. Thanks.

I think germinal seeds did something called 'bog master. It should have Timothy and or meadow fescue in it to survive the wet conditions. I wouldn't be spending a huge amount of money on it though.

Have a look on the link above under difficult soils.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

Same problem here. Working bog gone very muddy.... no natural heather left at all. Would love if I could shake actual heather seed ?????? Can this be bought I wonder ???

Most suppliers will have a wetland mixture for....wetland. I kno goldcrop do a combined wetland / reclaimed land mix....hav some left over. The diff is it is a tougher grass with stronger roots than normal...thats what am told.

Off hand dont know name but look up their website its the red bag, put down 9 acres good grazing a month ago...well up now. 2acres grazing mixed with wetland mix 10 days ago, rain came so couldn roll it but its up few rain trenches but its up anyway...finished last bit today could only roll half as tractor was too heavy for bog and was just making tyre trenches when rolling so now we wait...i do vari grass suppliers last year compared goldcrop and the agritech seeds...goldcrop alot dearer but agritech up faster but felt cattle done bit of damage to agritech side of field more last nov....now though there is no diff. All i say is buy for the ground ie silage grazing or wetland mixes.

On wet land are we wasting our time planting Ryegrasses, would we be better off useing a timothy/yorkshirefor/cockfoot mixture. Would it last longer and survive better on the wetter parts.

I reseeded a wet (black earth) field a few years ago in the parts that have the wire rush all the ryegrass has died but bits of yorkshire fog is starting to come and I wonder if I reseeded with that and topped twice a year.

At my recent discussion group farm walk the facilitator drew the same conclusion. Reseeding with ryegrass got good results from good ground but disappeared after a few short years on poor wet ground. The ryegrass needs a dry aerated top 12" of soil for it to survive.

Lads in the group that have reseeded agreed best results over the years were from good ground.

Sounds like you have the same facilitator as me just do it because our one brought up the same thing a few weeks ago at a meeting about how quickly wet land will revert to type.
