Everyday Irish Translation Thread

Sick of reading Irish language books that focus on grammar and phrases for tourists that frankly we'll never use so would people like to join me in creating a little thread for every day Irish sayings? Like wanna go for coffee, or what time is the movie, or meet me by the library and other things.

I'll get the ball rolling and if people with Irish could add their own useful sayings and people without Irish request something it could be translated? I for one would like to know how to say 'i'll send it to you on Facebook/through email' something i say at least 10 times a day

No prob! I forgot to add that the response should be simply "ba not "ba mhaith liom". In other words, "I would" instead of "I would like".

Níor chuir - I did not.

Ó mo Dhia, nach bhfuil rud ar bith eile/níos fearr ar siúl? - Ah god, isn't there anything else/better on?
Fan bomaite, tá mé (ag amharc air)/(ag éisteacht leis) seo - Wait a minute, I'm watching/listening to this.

An bhfaca tú mo chuid eochracha (in) áit ar bith? - Did you see my keys anywhere?
Ní fhaca, cár fhág tú iad? - I didn't, where did you leave them?
Da mba rud é go raibh sé sin ar eolas agam, ní bheinn go fóill sa tóir orthu! - If I knew that, I wouldn't still be looking for them!
Ní fadhb s'agam é - It's not my problem.

Tabhair dom an salann/an t-im/an piobar/an t-anlann dearg, le do thoil - Pass the salt/butter/pepper/red sauce, please.
Sínigh amach do lámh agus faigh duit féín é! - Stretch out your hand and get it for yourself!
Tá sé díreach taobh leat - It's right beside you.
Seo chugat - Here you are.

Have a ceist for a translation for a tattoo :-)

My friend is looking to get the phrase "See no evil, Hear no evil, Speak no evil" in Irish - Any suggestions or help - For the actual translation, but also different ways of saying it so as it reads well as a tattoo, you know?

My daughter would call that a "D4-ism"
"A dhiabhail" is far more natural than "Oh mo dhia"!!

Tis far from D4 I learned my Irish ... :P

TBH I'd be far more likely to say "Dia ár sábháil" or "In ainm Chroim" (in a tongue-in-cheek way) than "Ó mo Dhia", but I think I was just trying to keep it a little simpler!

Interesting one that, haven't come across a direct equivalent before and wouldn't mind seeing other people's suggestions ...

My real point is that "ó mo dhia" isn't Irish, it's English spoken using Irish words!
To give another example, I once had a German friend who used to say "people" in the way an English speaker would say "man"
"People, that was a great night" rather than "Man, that was a great night".
He was translating from German "mensch", of course, but it still sounded weird!

Istigh leis seo gheobhaidh tú - Enclosed please find....
Le dea-mhéin - Kind regards (email signoff)
Seol rphost chugam - Send me an email.

I would think is maith liom AN deoch is more correct than Is maith liom deoch.
