I have a sky box but was wondering if I can get the extra saorview channels on it.

    If so, how?

    TIA

Afraid not, the new saorview channels are only available terrestrially on the DTT platform via a UHF aerial and on satellite via Saorsat (KA Sat @ 9ºE).

Your best bet (if you're in a Saorview reception area) is to get a Saorview approved STB or TV set, and use the Sky box for UK channels.

If you want to record Saorview programs, there ahould be Saorview approved PVR's available soon after DSO. In the shorter term, there are Freeview HD recorders that may work, but as non approved units, they may have limited functionality.

    thanks for your reply.
I thought that was the case. I phoned to cancel sky but they gave me a reduction to €17 per month which will keep me going until a saorview approved pvr is out.
common sense would think that sky would sort it with rte to get the extra channels.

I've already canceled my multiroom and got an ariva 250.:D

 What extra channels? RTE1 +1 & RTE Junior? Hardly a deal breaker where Sky are concerned.

    Oh, & RTE News Now, mustn't forget that . . .

No Saorview approved PVR on the market yet but reported to be in for testing so maybe we'll them in the coming months.

There are PVR-ready Saorview receivers, add your own external drive.
