2012 will see Cuchulainn Cycling Club one of Ireland top Cycling clubs promoting a number of National Champions in the sea side town of Blackrock just outside Dundalk.

Events will kick off on the Saturday with a time trial. The time trial will see Ireland best Under 18 and Over 40 riders do battle to be crowned Irish Champions. The race is also known as “The Race of Truth” as each rider must complete the 35km course alone and unassisted and the fastest rider is declared the winner. You can expect to see state of the art equipment and bicycles as riders try to shave every second off their time. You can expect the race winners to average in excess of 50kph.

Sunday will see the action move to a Road Race with the riders this time lining up for a mass start event. The first race to set off will be the A3 event. A3 Cyclists are considered the real amateurs of Irish Cycling and are the guys that have to balance the demands of one of the worlds toughest sports with full time jobs and family commitments. They will be following by the Juniors (Under 18′s) the up and coming stars of the future, many of whom will be hoping this event will act as a showcase event for them to catch the interests of the bigger clubs and teams.
The races will be contested over 105km (6 laps x 17.5km circuit) with the race finishing in the village of Blackrock around 3pm.
