iPhone / Android Users - Would you use this?

I don't want to post this in the OT thread as I want to get peoples opinions on this

Would you buy this if it was cheap and available?

On one side, people will see you as 'hipster' or what have you, but on the other side, if you're taking photos with your phone, it's a nice way to hide your 'Valuable'

Personally, I would rather have my DSLR taking photos than the iPhone. I kind of feel a bit silly taking photos in public with it (Even though it's great quality) Purely because it's supposed to be a phone

That being said, I don't think I would actually buy this, but if it was cheap, I probably would as a novelty

    Thoughts?

Bring the Fun of Film to Your iPhone

We love taking photos on our iPhones, but long for something lost between the analog and digital ages. As impractical as film might be, there's something uniquely satisfying about the feel of a real camera and the click of a real button. Four Corner Store grew out of documentary photographer Nic Nichols' frustration with the digital age, and we love the cool analog-meets-digital accessories he's uncovered from around the world.

I think people would see you more as an 'idiot' if they knew what it was. It's a ridiculous product on a couple of different levels, but no more ridiculous than a pile of other related ones and, sure at the end of the day, whatever rocks your boat...

I mean, seriously, Get this :
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ZORKI-2C-2-C-S-INDUSTAR-50-3-5-50-F-3-5-50MM-ZEISS-TESSAR-TYPE-/300756134572?pt=UK_Photography_VintageCameras_SM&hash=item4606766aac
And a couple of rolls of film & processing and you'll STILL have change out of buying that tatty piece of crap above.

    I'm not, re-read the post!

You missed the whole part where I said

I know it's a stupid price, and I have film cameras which I use regularly

I wasn't talking about you specifically, I was talking about anyone who'd stick that thing on their phone. With regard to the cost, I wouldn't use it even if it were free.

To cap it all off why not get this too, so you can mount your Canon or Nikon lenses on it:

Just hope you don't get a call, though: "What's that idiot doing with his camera up to his ear?"

As an aside, I've seen a lot of Olympic coverage with people in the crowd taking photos with iPads.

Someone should make an iPad case like this:

Actually funnily enough when I was on holidays I saw some guy taking pictures with his IPad with a gigantic popout shade to cover the screen that he was peering into the end of. It reminded me of some handheld 8x10. As inconvenient and vastly inferior quality. Though I suppose you can't play angry birds on a view camera ...

at a price point of about a tenner i'd probably say sure why not. i actually feel more vulnerable stupid with an iphone held aloft, and I generally don't feel in any way worried with a dslr. funny that.

On the topic of covers, I read somewhere, sometime ago (no idea where), that if heading to particularly dodgy parts of the world and concerned about theft (street), then sticky tape and band aid up your camera to be almost unrecognisable so long as you can see the necessary controls - the idea being that the 'bad guys' won't target crap/outwardly broken gear. Not talking grafton street here, but if worried about your gear's safety while travelling abroad, it would be something to consider. Also, bear in mind this is not guaranteed to work :D
