Not many floating about on these shores I imagine but just wondering if anyone on here owns one and what do you think of it? Don't think I've ever read a critical review of it

I had the spring drive version. Great watch but didn't like it. Tbh I don't think I could get past the idea it was a Seiko (Sad reflection on me) it wore big and one lose part of the braclet was lost and I had to send it to Japan for repair and service. It was alot of hassel, so. I flipped it.

Hi Sunster - yep I'm lucky enough to own one.

This is a good resource (be warned - induces purchases :p)

I really, really like this watch. Very solid timekeeper. I love the look of it. The stock bracelet is excellent as is the OEM rubber (although this takes a little getting used to and requires boiling) and its good on a Nato if that's your thing.

I also like that its not a Sub or Planet Ocean. Don't get me wrong - those are brilliant watches in their own right and they don't need me to say that. I just personally like the lower profile branding of the Marinemaster and on a looks comparison I prefer Seiko to rolex/omega divers. By way of context I should admit that I am a bit of a Seiko fanboy.

The only downside that comes to mind is that currently you need to send back to Japan at service intervals (5 years). That will hopefully change as the Grand Seiko/high end Seiko brands make more inroads into the European markets. In any event if you buy from one of the well respected Japanese suppliers you can arrange servicing through them with little or no difficulty.

Notwithstanding its lower profile, its still a very high quality/high end piece which should have great longevity - and I don't have any concerns about Seiko being around in the long term future for support/service/repair etc.

From contact with others who own them, the major source of buyer's remorse appear to me to arise from a preference for 'recognised' watches - and that's fair enough too. People should buy whatever makes them happy.

Ger - that 600m is a hell of a watch. I must say from a personal point of view though I much prefer the cleaner simpler lines of the 300m - I find myself a little allergic to the Spring Drive power reserve complication in most of its forms.

If I'm right the 600m is also a little larger in diameter and about 3mm thicker and from pictures I've seen always looks considerably heftier on the wrist.

Thanks for the replies. Yes I've seen the few that have come up on TZ-UK. Unfortunately I missed out on the one with the sapphire crystal.
ALthough the I've a couple of divers, none of them come in the category of Tool divers that I can wear with a rubber band. Hence my interest in the MM300.
Reloc8- how does it wear say compared to the Planet Ocean? You in Dublin?

You have more options on the Planet Ocean as regards size. Taking the full size 2500 calibre I think it is shown as 45mm excluding crown lug to lug and 15 mm tall/thick. The MM 300 is 44mm lug to lug ex crown and 14.6 mm thick. That sounds minor but taken with the different bezel design (PO 2500 bezel to my eyes slopes/cambers a little from in to out where MM 300 bezel is flat) I think the MM 300 wears a touch taller or feels like it does.

I'm in Dublin and work city centre D7 area - shoot me a pm if you want a look in RL.

Mine doesn't have the saphire crystal upgrade but I can't see a difference between the saphire PO and the hardlex MM. That said, I wore mine snorkelling and it did pick up a tiny tiny nick to the crystal - visible to me at close range when I really look for it - which saphire might have avoided or more likely it would have been a lesser pin prick in the AR coating.
