Canon 60D Lens Upgrade

    Hi All,

So I have a Canon 60D with the 18-55 kit lense nearly a year now. I have the bug and want to upgrade to try out some new lenses.

My main interests are landscape and macro.

I would really love to get a good Zoom Lense and a Macro lense, but I would only have a budget of about €500 altogether.

Could anyone recommend a macro & zoom within or near my budget. I would prefer Canon lenses (but I know they are a little more pricey). Anyway any advise would be great, as in what lense, where to get it, what kind of price are they.

I am still quite a novice using a DSLR, but growing in knowledge and confidence in my images.

I used a canon efs 18-200mm IS zoom lens on my 60d before upgrading to l lens and it's a really versatile lens. The quality is actually quiet good too and while not strictly a macro lens it does handle them ok. It's an expensive lens new but there are a few popping up second hand which are great value. I used this lens as my main lens for ages in my 60d and have taken some of my best shots with the lens. My verdict would be that it's a good solid lens with a good range, I now have 3 L lens to make up the same range.

Otherwise the canon 70-200 f4 L lens can be picked up second hand around the €500 mark. This is another lens I believe will suit your zoom and macro needs quiet nicely but you'll be missing the wider range of the other lens.
