Where are people buying things like this at the moment? I want a 3TB drive for videos music and back up. They seem to be about 160euro on a couple of sites I've checked.

    cheers.

    Yup, that's what they are.

Theirs only 3 companies making them now, Hitachi was bought up by western digital (i think), Samsung externals biz was bought by Seagate or whoever....no real competition now so prices are gonna stay that bit higher than they were before the floods.

Surely the floods from last year still aren't causing prices still to be high?

No, they just never came back down.

HDD companies said that now that Hitachi-->who was forever dropping prices, was gone, they could start to make some real money, they posted greatly increased profits their awhile back.

Pitty remember just before the floods I paid €34 for a 500gb 7200rpm Samsung from hardwareversand.

Hitachi aren't the best in world when it comes to reliability me thinks.

Ok cool thanks. It's a pity about the lack of price war. It seemed for a while they were going to go the way of memory.

    Cheers.

Many enclosures won't support drives over 2TB. Indeed the one you've link doesnt appear to.
