    Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone can recommend a decent (free) graphics app for web development? I dont need anything too fancy right now, just something to get started with web development. I have a decent enough grasp of XHTML, CSS and Javascript and want to look at the graphics side of things.

    Thanks

    GIMP and Inkscape.

Or even Paint.Net might be enough

I use Paint.NET quite a bit on Windows, even though I have Photoshop. Probably because it's easier :)

I'd agree with others that you should give Paint.net a go. I do very basic graphic editing with it and it seems to have a lot of functionality (not that I use much of it). It's also very easy to use.

I've used Gimp & Inkscape for years without issue.
Gimp is comparable to photoshop while inkscape to illustrator. With both you should be able to accomplish anything.
