I am worried about my dad and would be grateful if anyone knows or has encountered the same symptom. My dad is eighty and had a lump removed from behind his ear. He said it was not painful but itchy! the doctor would not commit to saying if he thought it was cancerous or not and we have to wait 3 weeks for results.! I would nt mind but he has allready convinced himself he has cancer and i am feeling bad for him and tried to reassure him that it may be something simple. I feel that because the doctor did not try to reassure him he may allready think it is and is just not saying! It s gonna be very hard not to think about it for the next three weeks? Just wondering if anyone has ever had an itchy hard lump behind there ear?

I had an itchy hard lump behind my earlobe before. It was a cyst or something and went away by itself. Defo not cancerous.
Doctors usually dont reassure people if there is any uncertainty at all. They need them to be ready to face worst case scenarios. Also they can't be blamed for being wrong that way if it is the worst thing. Most doctors are usually pretty vigilant about testing lumps - they take a better to be safe than sorry approach.
None of that should be considered medical advice. Just personal experience and opinion of someone with no medical training at all. You cant ask for or give medical advice on this website btw.

I'm guessing the Dr. didn't give a clear diagnosis because he is waiting for the test results so he cannot tell you what he doesn't know.

I know it's scary but there really is nothing you can do but wait for the results and take it from there.

I hope your dad is ok!
