Now tonights one again is awful and I cant play online at all. It's just so depressing that I have to put up with this

I live in a small village of Golden right beside the exchange
    Connected
    DSL Mode: ADSL_G.dmt
    Speed: 3072 kbps /384 kbps
    Line Attenuation (Down/Up): 10 dB /7 dB
DSL Noise Margin: 29 dB /15 dB

Eircom letter to me 2yrs ago
"The speed available to the end user attached to an exchange is dictated by the backhaul capacity from the exchange into the wider eircom trunk network. Any exchange with less than 24mb backhaul can only offer 3mb and below. This is the case with Golden which has a 16meg backhaul capacity.

Therefore it would not be feasible for eircom to offer the higher speed.

The situation will of course change as eircom upgrades its network backhaul capacity which is being done on a phased basis driven by capacity demands."

Is this congestion that is causing this or what's the story. I find it strange if its congestion because most of Golden cant get broadband or want it

Them be bad stats. Possible line fault. You might just be too far from exchange.

Do you have anything else connected fo the phone line? Other phones, DECT, FAX, Modem, Sky, etc?

Remove them all. Connect router to master phone outlet [usually by front door] with nothing else plugged in anywhere in house. Test again.

I live beside the exchange and yes iv a phone connected to the line

But i doubt that would explain such bad results from 9pm to midnight

    Great during the daytime too

I used to work in Clondalkin, right beside the exchange [Nangor Road]. Rang up eircom one day to check a problem. Found out we were on the Walkinstown exchange. Feckin miles away.

Ring eircom, report fault. Have plenty of data to quote first.

Iv rang them RangeR but they just dont want to hear about it. Before it was over 90 ping was a fault but now its 100

They think the line is grand

Look at the excuse they give me

Chances are, they are over subscribed. They only have 16Mb backhaul on that exchange. That's nothing. That gets fully utilised with only a handful of users connected.

eircom are fobbing you off but this will not change. They cannot afford to fix every exchange. They have no money.

If yer out of contract, I believe Digweb has service in Golden [Co. Tipp?]
