Thanks for the quick reply. If I could trouble you with one more question. How much gig of ram would I need on a computer to record guitar and vocals?

When I first started I got along fine with just 1.5 gigs of RAM
I'm using 32 gigs of RAM now

It depends on how many tracks at a time you'll be recording and how many effects/plugins you intend using.

If you bought your computer in the last couple of years chances are it'll have enough RAM (possibly 2 to 4 gigs) to get you started but as you start to move to more complex pieces with more tracks and effects/plugins the computer will need more RAM

What is your current set up?

Thanks for the info Master. I dont have a set up as of yet, just trying to gather as much info as I can before I start buying. I'm hoping a good lap-top, audio interface like the line6 and a couple of monitor's a or good pair of head phones will do me. I write my own stuff so it's just vocals and acoustic guitar, so any advice is more than welcome. I just wanna try and keep it simple.
