Astra Satellite - Turkish TV

    Hi folks,

we have a digibox set up to the astra (I Think) satellite to receive Turkish Tv channels. However, recently Star TV changed their channel location, so the box had to be reset. We can't find the original remote control for it, and so can't get into the scan menu. Unfortunately in desperation to sort out the new channel hubby went pressing buttons to beat the band and reset the factory settings which meant that now there are NO stored channels.

Not particularly offay with this whole thing - I can tune in the channels when we had the original remote, but we changed to one of the 'one for all' remotes and can't access the menu to scan the channels.

Can anyone recommend someone reasonable in Dublin, preferably northside to re-set the channels?

    thanks,
    Ted

Is it an old receiver? You'd probably be better off just replacing it with something up to date if you can't get another remote to access the menus.

Certainly don't pay anyone to look at it. A call out fee would have you well on the way to a basic HD box.

    pardon my stupidity, but....
    a) where would a person buy a new box that will pick up the stations?
    b) how much are we talking price wise?
    c) do we just do a basic install and scan the channels and it should pick them up?
    d) can a sky box do this? say, can you connect the existing sky box we have via an adaptor or something to be connected to both satellites? its one of my pet peeves to have a load of boxes sitting under the telly - if one box could do both that would be bloomin marvellous!

    thanks,

Star TV is on Turksat at 42 east? Dont think its on Astra 2. Is this the channel you are on about?

    Turksat 3A 11054.00 H QPSK 30000 5/6

That's on the east beam, so it isn't that one unless the OP has a massive dish. It's on 7 east as well.

The whole point of the thread is that the OP doesn't seem to be able to enter tuning details anyway.

nope not a huge dish....just a normal size one, same size as the sky dish. I know we could get more channels with a big mahusive dish but we don't fancy giving up half our garden to accommodate a huge dish.

Can the sky hd box be connected to the two satellites? Is that even possible???

Sky HD boxes are designed to work with the Sky service on 28E and do not support Diseqc switching.

What is the make and model number of your current satellite receiver?
