Dell fails to start up

    Hi,

    I have been asked by a friend to fix there laptop a dell PP31L.

    The symptoms are when switched on the three speaker lights light up ( located between the keyboard and screen ),

    with the middle light ( the decrease volume light ) flashing a few times (x10) then the machine switches itself off.

    No fan noise nothing.

    I was told it might be the motherboard which i have changed ( without any screws left over at the end :) )

    I subsequently changed the cpu but still nothing.

    Any thoughts ......
