Finally retiring my mondeo after 9 years and 163k miles worth of happy (and relatively trouble free) motoring.

Looking at my options, and there are plenty of mondeos in my price range.

I'm wondering what is the difference between the Style trim level and the Zetec. Is the style the same as the old LX?

Zetec will be better equipped and more desirable, Style is Ford speak for poverty spec. Titanium and Ghia have all the toys.

my own is a zetec, so i know what you mean about more toys etc.

I'm actually looking for a zetex, preferably diesel, and there are a couple in range, but milage is significantly higher than a similarly priced style trim.

I just wanted to confirm that the style trim was essentially the old LX trim level.

The Style did replace the LX here in around 2010 when the Mondeo got a facelift. It is basic enough but still comes with alloy wheels and voice activated bluetooth. UK imported Style models were available before 2010 but they came in "Garda" spec with plastic wheel trim and black exterior door handles.

    Zetec or above is best.

I have a current spec zetec (econetic) Mondeo. The extra spec is well worth the extra few quid. Bigger alloys, front fogs, digital climate control over aircon, full electrics, cruise control, leather steering wheel and a few other bits and bobs.

the difference in price in the 2nd hand market is quite significant though. I would much prefer a zetec, but think i might have to cut my cloth according to my measure unfortunately!! :o:(

Anyone know what an 'Edge' spec is? Seems to fall somewhere between Style and Zetec frm what i can see.

Edge is the UK equivalent of our Style, their bottom of the range model.

Edge was a uk spec pre-facelift LX with alloys and foglights
