I was just wondering when you get stopped by the gardai and they take your name, DOB and address in their notebooks is that information put on file? Reason I ask is because I have been stopped recently and was just wondering what they do with the information..

It depends why you were stopped. If they were just checking who you are then it might go no further than the notebook.
