Finding pesky tune-up races for the DCM (P&D plan)

Training for the DCM and making an attempt to follow P&D properly for the first time. Dont want to think too much about a plan, just do what im told, when im told, if possible.

Like most people I really need to do LSRs on Sundays.

If you look at the 18 week programme, you need to find 8-15k races on Sat. 15th Sept, 29th Sept and 13th (8-10k) October, with an LSR the day after.

Ive found 10K races in leinster for the 15th and 13th but none for the 29th.

The races seem to be an important part of the plan, so what do people who have followed/are following this plan do when there is no race?

    Tempo? Time-trial?

If enough people are in the same boat maybe an informal 10-15K 'race' could be organised in an estate/park somewhere for P&D adherents :)

This is my 3rd time following P&D. I do my long runs on a Saturday - never found a suitable race on a Friday!

I know a race is a better test and gives you more feedback I've replaced them with some sort of speed session. Part of the benefit of the race is the whole race day prep, running in a crowd, nerves and adrenalin, etc. so you miss a bit of that.

I'm actually replacing some of the earlier speed sessions with races purely cause I'm sick of sacrificing races for my marathon plan.

For P&D 55 I just did time trials and it worked out grand for me, but this time around I want to practice my 'race mode' which is hard to do in solo time trials.

I'm following the 55-70 and will do the 3 tune up races plus one extra:
    Dingle Half on Sep 1st
DCM Race Series Half on Sep 15th
    Rathfarnham 5km on Sep 23rd
10km Chonamara in Galway on Oct 13th

It takes a bit of jiggling around but I feel it will be worth the race mode experience.
