Over the last couple of weeks the station is grinding my gears with the OTT promotion of this festival.

    It is relentless.

Surely the Festival can't be paying anything for adverts on the station?

They sponsor it along with a few other festivals.

    What does that actually mean?

So the adverts are free? (they'd need to be considering they are on about 100 times per day).

Do they get a cut of the ticket revenue?

It's known in broadcasting as a contra deal. A broadcaster will provide advertising to a certain value in return for the rights to broadcast live and recorded material from the festival. So, no money changes hands and each benefits from it. 2fm also do the same thing. The frequency of promo's/adverts will, of course, differ between broadcasters as different deals are done.
