    Hi,
I am going to 6th year now and I would like to do this course.

    http://www.dcu.ie/prospective/deginfo.php?classname=BS&originating_school=50

The only problem is amount of points.
I don't know if I will be able to get there, with my subjects and grades I got this summer.

    Subjects:
    HL
    Physics, Business and Geography
    OL
    English, Maths and French

I am Polish nationality so I also decide to do Polish Language on my LC.

    Grades this summer:

    Physics - D2
    Business - C1
    Geography - C1

    English - B3
    Maths - C1
    French - C2

    Points = 280
    Course Requires = 420

    I need 140 points!

I decided to study hard all year now, do all my homework and study after school. But in your opinion can I still make it do get those 420 points or is it too late ?

PS. Any tips about how to study Physics would be appreciated.

140 points is well manageable, if you put your head down you can do well. Also, be aware that there are PLC routes into the course too - if the Leaving Cert doesn't turn out as well as you want for whatever reason, there are the PLC routes too. Apply to those early as your safety net, and use those as your back door into the course. It means spending more money on the CAO, but if this is the one course you want, it's worth it!
It's never to late to get the head down, and deciding to do so before the start of sixth year is a good sign. For help with Physics, some people found ReviseWise and books like that to be helpful, or grinds. One or two people went for revision courses during the year, but these can be costly. Ask your teacher for extra help, and explain you need to heighten your points - I'm sure they'll be happy to help!
Good luck with the year ahead :)

Ok, Thanks for help. But what are these PLC routes ?

If you look at the link you provided in your original post, clicking on the "How To Apply" tab on that page gives the ways you can be eligible for the course. The following is the PLCs they state.
    FETAC Level 5

BBSXX Business Studies, BBSAX Business Studies - Administration, BBSIT International Trade, BMXXX Marketing
If you don't meet the minimum requirements in Mathematics above you must complete the Statistics or Mathematics module at FETAC level. Therefore, for BBSXX Business Studies or BBSAX Business Studies- Administration or BBSIT International Trade or BMXXX Marketing, distinctions in 5 modules are required with one of these 5 distinctions being in module B20029 Statistics or C20139 Mathematics.

Hmmm ok.. But I get confused now as I did course research as my Career Guidance Project, and I have seen this course before. But It was level 8, however on you quote it says "FETAC Level 5" ?

You do the level 5 and that will allow you meet entry requirements for the level 8 degree course you want.

Just some more re-assurance: In my mocks (March of 6th year) I got 225 points, in the real thing I got 425 (the minimum requirement for BBS 4 years ago) so it's possible, just put the head down!!

That kinda motivates me even more, how long did you study each day ?
I'm also doing MMA and though about singing-up for breakdance, I would like to do both study and sports. So I will have to manage my time well.

I had grinds in maths 4 hours a week from the mocks to the end (one of the courses I was looking at needed higher level) but apart from that nothing out of the ordinary really. IMO don't put a time schedule on it (hours per night or something) rather split up what you need to know for the exam and just keep going over it until you know it. It's a hard slog but worth it at the end!

There is loads of time for that in college - and probably better facilities - put it out of your mind for the next year.

Speaking from experience, you need to just focus on study for a year to get your leaving cert. Once you are in college you can start MMA, Breakdancing or anything you want. If you dont get the points, you dont get in.
