    Hi,

I am looking to add my girlfriend on my insurance policy and just wondering a couple of things. I was told I cannot add her onto my existing Zurich policy so need to take out a new policy they gave me a few quotes with aviva which were a lot more than what I'm paying at the moment.

Is it possible for someone to take out their own separate policy on the same car? My renewal date isnt until January 2013. Is it common to have a penalty fee for moving to another company before the renewal date? Any suggestions of some companies to get a quote off?

funny. it normally lowers a policy by adding a female to it. I have also never had trouble putting someone onto my policy at any stage of the policy.

Don't know why you could not add her to existing. Id ring them again. Maybe you or they misunderstood something along the way.

The OPs Zurich policy might have had limitations on it preventing his G/F from being added. For examle, they may not allow a driver with a provisional to be added as a named driver on a 200bhp car. We don't know what type of car the OP has or the age/driving experience of his g/f.

VW golf 2007 1.4. I have full licence 5 years, she has 2 years provisional. Yeah they said something about Zurich not covering named drivers under a certain age, she is 22.
