I am 18 years old with a full irish drivers licence and i am a named driver on a commercial insurance policy belong to my father. i tried hertz and they informed me they dont take on people under the age of 25. No chance.

I don't think that there's a singe company who will rent to a singe driver of your age with less than a year licence. Only some would allow you as an additional driver but doubt that many of the majors would.

    Not a hope in hell.

Hertz will also restrict you on what cars you can rent if your under 30 even if you are 25. They refused to hire me a car that the company I work for had booked (it was a 2.0 litre mondeo).

Most companies require you to be 23 or over from memory.

Ask your insurance company if you can transfer your policy to a rental car in the UK, it will mean nobody can drive the vehicle insured in Ireland for the duration in the unlikely event they allow it.

He is only a named driver on his father's commerical policy though. So he doesn't have a policy to transfer.

18 years old, a full license for 12 months max and no insurance policy in his own name, not a chance any car hire firm will touch him unfortunately.
