Hi can anyone one advise me why my heating switch which is supposed to only heat the water from the oil supply will not do so? The bathroom rad upstairs heats but I have to use the immersion for everything from showers to dishes and its costly. The plumber does not understand whats happening.

Hi there are two switches on the system, one for heating and one for water alone. Since the re plumb I cannot get hot water (summer time) joke! alone. I have to put on the heating to get water and then it is luke warm?

Check if the cylinder stat is set to 60 degrees c.
And also check if the motorised valve is opening , it sounds as if its not wired correctly or the actuator is faulty , another thing to check is the balancing valve on the cylinder coil , make sure this is not shut fully , it should be open about half a turn .

I shall pass this info on to my plumber. I apologise but the info is "double dutch" to my uneducated mind re these things. I really appreiate any advice I can pass on. Do you mean the hot water cylinder? I believe he changed the motorised valve as he thought it was the prob.
