I'm nearly certain that they mentioned that farmers could recive a grant or two for protecting these ancient structures that they had on their land; i've searched the net briefly for what it is but I can't find it at the moment, did I imagine this or are there grants available?

The REPS Scheme is probably what you are thinking of, although there may be other grants available
