There is a Carmelite Church in Dooblin somewhere but I forget what street its on. I was in it one day and vaguely recall that they have a Mass there every hour in the day is that true?

Is it the church on Clarendon St - if you walk up Grafton Street towards Stephens Green it's down a little alley on the right. It's a beautiful church and services seem to be quite frequent.

Can I ask the obvious question? How can one be an atheist and a Christian simultaneously without strongly compromising / invalidating the other?

You can't. She was a Philosopher who was an Atheist for a time before she discovered Catholicism. It wasn't simultaneous.

Oooh, didn't hit me first. She is St Teresa Benedicta. When my daughter was a baby she was unwell for a while. Somebody told me to ask her intercession and I have been bothering her since! My other daughter is currently in Cappagh hospital having spinal surgery and I have been asking St Teresa Benedicta to intercede for her.

    Thanks for starting this thread.

A lovely story, I hope your daughter's surgery is successful, I wish her a full and speedy recovery.

You forgot to say she was born into a Jewish family (hence Aischwitz). Turned atheist in her teens (how very modern and clever teens were then!), and went on to study philosophy etc.

Her conversion came after reading the autobiography of St Teresa of Avila. Wikipedia has a pretty good bio on her

    good thread grrgprgua.
