Alright lads, seeking a bit of help here regarding my desktop pc. I recently recieved my pc back from a techie who fixed a water cooling problem for me and since i've had it back it seems to not want Flash Player to be installed on Mozilla Firefox 12.0, I am running Windows Xp Professional Version 2002 and when i try to install the flash player plug in, it just tells me " Adobe Flash Player installer has encountered a problem and needs to close, We are sorry for the inconvenience " I have tried over and over and over again to try install it and it just isn't happening, any ideas to help me lads, have a few pictures here if that helps :) Cheers, Dylan.

I had the same problem with FireFox but fixed it by uninstalling Flash player and installing an older version of Flash Player. Didn't look into it much further after that.

Latest versions of Flash (after v11 , I think) have a problem in Firefox.

Download and install Flash 10.3 - should solve the problem

Or you could try palemoon built on the same platform as firefox. :)

doubt that would fix his problem its just an optimised version of firefox.

    Try this:

Computer translations do not always make sense; here is what you need to do:
    • download http://oldcigaret.info/win2k/files/win2k_xp_v1_10.zip and save it to disk
    • unzip* the downloaded win2k_xp_v1_10.zip file to a new folder, e.g. C:\w2k-wrapper
    • run the bat file INSTALL_WRAPPER.BAT from folder C:\w2k-wrapper\install\
    • copy the Flash Player install file(s) to folder C:\w2k-wrapper\bin\
    • run the Flash Player install file(s) from that folder via double-click

You can download the Flash Player install files

*) if I remember correctly, Windows 2000 did not support zipping/unzipping natively; you may need to download a tool for this, e.g. the free 7-Zip.

Feel free to ask again if some of these instructions are unclear.

I ran a search on the error. You're certainly not the only one having the problem!
e.g. Adobe help forum which linked to Adobe bug reports - nothing in the bug reports that I found.
The link above mentions possible reason is malware infection. If so, running CCleaner would help. No harm in running a scan - but sounds a bit like clutching at straws.

Do you have some kind of skinning program running on XP (to give the windows 7 look?). These programs can conflict with other software/plugins so may be linked to your flash Player crash. Does Flash in another browser like Chrome work ok?

Oh yeah thanks for that mate, have had malware infections in the past so that could be the source alright, ill run a malware remover and a disk cleaner and see if that helps, cheers mate.

Try malwarebytes and cleaner instead. :)

As a matter of fact mate, I actually do have a skinning program known as seven remix dont know if this should make a difference as I have had it on this computer before and on my laptop. Cheers, Dylan.

I've no clue man, just thought I'd suggest it as in the past UI skinning has caused issues with software, ASJ seems to have had similar problems with Safari on their Mac so it could just be an issue with the flash Player setup file.
You could try running CCleaner Free and this should remove Adobe flash cached files, this may help, but it hard to know, worth a shot anyways ;) .
