I got these two videos today, showing some interesting incidents:

There wasn't much in the Noel O'Leary incident and Mikey Conway shouldn't be going down like that.
I didn't realise that Alan O'Connor did that and it could be argued it could have been a straight red, he was also lucky not to pick up a second yellow for his dig on Tomas O'Connor.

Kildare lad goes down very easy in the first one but O'Leary has done that time and time again.

Thought both games were full of cynicism (slowing play up, trying to provoke a reaction, rugby tackles etc).

Unfortunately the rules give an advantage to this stuff and the best teams look for every edge.

I saw the second incident from the Lower Cusak and it looked worse and more intentional than in the video.

At the time I thought it could easily have been a red card but upon watching it again, maybe the yellow card was just about right. O'Connor can be thankful however that the Kildare player stayed on his feet and didn't exaggerate damage caused.

It's ok, it was all sorted and Paul Galvin will be suspended instead.

Alan O Connor gets the Kildare player in the cahones. I don't see the intent in the second video, Alan sees a guy at the last second running at him and he isnt ready for it and seems to react more in self-defense than anything. Nasty outcome alright though.

Can't defend Noel O Leary in the first video, why o why does he get involved, absolutely no reason to do that. The Kildare player over-reacts but its so silly from Noel. Noel could have got sent off, there was 100% intention and there is a strike.

Conor Counihan. Most famous for trying to castrate Jack O'Shea.

I see he's brought it into his coaching!

Agree about comment on Noel, he should really cop on. Hopefully Counihan will have words with him. Doesnt need to be involved in that nonsense.

"Yeah Noel. You know the way you've spent your whole career punching and gouging? Well we'd like you to change, maybe become small and whippy!"

    ;)

He just needs to calm down, not just for Cork either, i've seen him lose the rag in a challenge match I was involved in, the ref had to give him a yellow and tell him to shut the f... up, against a non-rival in a challenge match!

Sad thing is, by all accounts he is meant to be a lovely harmless lad, its just when he is on the football pitch, he completely changes.

Alan O'Connor incident happened right in front of me, it was the second time he had done the same thing in about ten minutes, looked around saw the Kildare guy coming and dropped his studs into the guy's midsection. Was a stonewall red card and a nasty thing to do.

Not only that, but at the hop ball 30 seconds after the 2nd Video, he grabbed Tomás O'Connor, pulled him to the ground and punched him in the head on the ground, which set up the incident in the First Video.

Alan O'Connor was very very lucky to avoid 2 Straight Reds, and Conor Counihan did right in taking him off immediately after that. In fact myself and a fella from Cork were talking about what sort of sending off it would be, a Straight Red or a Second Yellow, rather then if he'd be sent off.

Joe McQuillan made some very dodgy decisions on the day, and Kidare came off worse more often then not. He's a sub-standard Referee, and seriously bottled the Alan O'Connor incidents, which could have had a huge baring on the game. Kildare were only 3 points behind at that stage, at the start of the second half, and were motoring well. Instead, Cork took O'Connor off, brought Pearse O'Neill on, and opened the game up. This combined with Kildare losing a man very soon after, left Cork in complete control.

These are isolated incidents by the way, the whole match wasn't filthy. The game lost all shape for the first 5 minutes of the 2nd half, and heavy challenges were going in, and some guys lost the heads. All the Quarter Finals were played in good spirits this weekend, it was unfortunate that this incident wasn't mentioned much at all, considering its importance during the game.
