Is the vinyl used by manufacturers for B-Pillar trim the same as ordinary sign writers vinyl or is it a special automotive grade vinyl?

It's usually much thicker than sign-writing vinyl. I think 3M do it but it could be hard to find a source for just a small amount of it.
MDP supplies (sign-writing supply co. who have an office up in Northern Ireland) have a fairly good selection of vinyl on their website, try there.

Thanks for the feedback. I've had a good look through the 3m websites but can't find the specific item, unless it classified as vehicle wrap.

MDP Supplies have a good selection including vehicle wrap in matt black, so I'll see if they sell small quantities. Otherwise, I'll have to see what I can get on fleabay.

I think the smallest MDP will supply is a 5 metre roll, probably a bit too much for your job:).
There must be a few sign companies near you. Ask one of them for a small bit of whatever colour you need.

I tried a few of the local sign companies and all they had was gloss black vinyl. I'll see if I can order a small quantity online. Thanks.
