I have no info on Kellys bike but for what its worth i seen on the wheelworx Facebook page they have a Dolan Mythos reduced from €1,499 to €999, great bike within your budget, would in my opinion be superior to a Kellys

My mate has a 2010 Kellys Arc 1.9 with Sora 18spd group set. It's a very nice bike as I've ridden it a few times, it's a lot less rigid than my Ridley compact and only slightly heavier.
He's been riding it for 2 yrs now and has no plans to upgrade or sell it. It's mainly used for short to medium length spins (20-60k) and does the job perfectly. Think he paid around 750 for it in 2010.

It would be helpful if you could tell us which specific Kelly's you are interested in?

Kelly's make more than one bike, the one I was telling you about is a racer and is at the lower end of the scale in terms of spec and price which would suit your budget.

You should do some research yourself and selected a model and budget then others would be better able to help as your question is the equivalent of asking "anyone have a Toyota, what are they like?"

Where are you located? LK bikes in Letterkenny stock a good range of Kellys bikes if that helps.

Well that's the one my mate has (he keeps it in my garage so I know it pretty well) Like I said they're a nice bike to ride and would make an ideal starter bike. The only thing I could fault it on is that when your in the drops you can't change up fear using the thumb levers, you have to come up on to the hoods (but that will be the same on most Sora equipped bikes) . Other than that it's a very nice bike, his is white with blue detailing and looks very very good.

I have the kellys IRC 3.9. It's a full tiagra groupset and a stiff frame. Have it over two years with alot of all weather use and it's had no problems. It's a different frame to the ARC and doesn't use sora. A comparable bike pricewise would be along the lines of a specialized Allez.

I have the Kellys Arc 1.9, 2009 edition I think. They changed the spec later - from 7005 alu to the more usual 6000 series, and reduced the gears from 9 to 8. Sensible decisions for a beginner level bike.

I speak a little Polish and German (!!) and it seems to me this bike is marketed more in eastern Europe, and not so much in the west. So reviews are hard to come by. I have a review here in German, and it compares the Arc 1.9 to the Cube Aerial, Fuji Newest 1.0, Focus Summit, and Lapierre S-tech 300. There was no 'final score' but it comes out as more than the equal of all of these - better than the Focus, and with the Lapierre scoring a point higher for comfort.

I love it, but don't have much experience with different road bikes. I did 105 kilometres on Saturday on it. What I can say is, it's surprisingly comfortable. I also cycle a Ridgeback Element with 37mm tyres, and I expected a road bike to be a lot harsher. But the back end of the Arc seems to absorb bumps very well.

In conclusion, it might not be heavily pushed in Western Europe, but I think it's a damn good bike.

    Fahreindruck
Wir haben uns über das Zubehör aus den
    Staaten gefreut, hatten aber überhaupt
viel Spaß mit dem Kellys. In angenehmer
Haltung geht es flott über den
    Asphalt. Die Beschleunigung ist gut,
    der Geradeauslauf sehr sauber. Der
sehr breite Lenker und die etwas traditionell
    wirkenden Laufräder fördern
    nicht unbedingt ein wendiges
    Fahrverhalten, dennoch,
    das Kellys geht auch
    sauber bzw. einsteigergerecht
    um die
    Kurven.
    Fazit:
    Optisch und technisch
    eine runde und sportliche
    Angelegenheit.

I've often done 200km on mine without comfort problems. My legs might not work well afterwards but everything else was fine. Even the wheels on them are generally good for the money. Mine came with kellys own rims on tiagra hubs and are bombproof.

I always think the brand name was a poor choice. Sounds like they are trying to get cheap attention by suggesting a connection with Sean Kelly.

Sounds to me like you've been shopping around Richies bikes in Swords Seamus!

I bought the Kelly Arc 1.9 from there earlier this year. Can highly recommend it, good beginner bike and as others have suggested pretty comfortable.
