Just purchased a massey 135 from a neighbour to fix up in my spare time,
Its has not been going(but was going perfect before) for about 5 years now and was laying outside in all weathers during this time, its had a new injector pump but im sure there is water laying inside as exhaust was off the tractor and not covered but i didnt try to start her incase i done more damage.
I will remove the injectors before i try to crank her over anyway
Any advice on proper way to go about getting this up and going was be great

    Ta

Does the crank turn at all? You could try removing the starter and try and turn the crank by using a lever on the ring-gear.

Water possibly has entered the engine but may not have either. There is sometimes a little pinhole on the exhaust at the bottom of the U, to allow any water get out without entering the engine.

What shape is the oil in? Any water in the sump? Might be worth draining out the oil to see at this stage. I'd change it before there you start it up in any case.

If the engine won't turn over, you could try removing the injectors and putting perhaps 50 ml of diesel in each chamber and see if it will help loosen things up.

I did up a 35X about 2 years ago. It's a labour of love and expensive if you can't do most of it yourself. The good news is that they are simle tractors and all the parts are freely available.

Let us know how you are getting on and if you have any pics as you are going along, i bet I won't be the only one who would love to see them.

I dont know if you can get a socket on the front crank pulley to check if the engine can be turned. It may not be possible to do so, no room?

We once used to have a Fordson Dexta that had a fuel tap, but we didn't know it was there and while she was not used every day, the fuel had leaked into the engine and locked it up.

It was eventually cleared by bump starting her on a hill and the driver got a eyefull and a mouthful :p.I would say its better to loosen the injectors though first and change the oil too as the previous poster has mentioned.

i drained the sump and about 1/2 of a pint of water come out first before the oil.
will have a go at the other things mentioned when i get a chance

Never heard of any 'special equipment' for starting a seized engine ?? What type of magical tool was it? a pry bar or a socket on the front pulley !!!
