Orderd z95 got z100

As above, I ordered a Felt z95 from LBS but after over 6 weeks waiting ended up with a z100 as z95 couldn't be got in correct frame size.

My question is, have I been done. Is there so little difference not to make any difference, if you follow :) or should I have kicked up a stink.

Was told z100 is a step above z95, but having checked online I'm not so sure.

Haven't used bike so it can still go back, don't want to go through all that again but don't want to be done either.

Confused :confused: and just looking for opinions.. Cheers in advance.

Afaik the Z100 is a step below the z95. The frames are the same, just the group set & components are different. Nothing wrong with the Z100 but I hope you didn't pay the same price though.

By one of the shop staff members? The Z100 has cheaper components than the Z95. I would be well pissed off if I'd been told otherwise.

Its on B2W scheme so no money actually paid yet and bike not used yet. Might try to get one or two extra bits thrown in. Only seems to be about €50 difference in price.

Only difference seems to be in drivetrain,

z95 = Shimano Tiagra rear derailleur, FSA Tempo Compact 50/34T crankset

    and

z100 = Shimano Sora rear derailleur, FSA Tempo Triple 52/42/30T crankset

    By shop owner :o

The Z95 is the better and lighter bike, but more importantly, what you initially ordered and so if the shop want you to take it instead, they should offer you something to make up the difference - if you're happy with that.
I would definitely be asking for something to sweeten the deal, or else take my custom elsewhere

did you get anything extra at all? if not id be pretty pissed off tbh, you ordered a bike so you should have got that bike and if anything they should have offered you a model up for the inconvenience...my opinion for what its worth

Personally I wouldn't take it and would go elsewhere and get something you actually want. Id also be pissed at the shop staff trying to fob you off that the Z100 is a better spec than the z95.

Unless you live in a very mountainous region then you have no need for a triple a compact will more than suit your needs.

Her profile says west wicklow - mountainous enough for a first road bike!

Yeah, would be hilly enough. Getting pee'd off now as I went with a LBS* for their 'knowledge'.

Now either they are trying to hoodwink me or were hoodwinked by the sales rep. neither impresses me.

Looking at minor differences in the spec. of z100 it is passably a 2011 model and one or two other niggles are starting to bother me, (ie. no upper brake levers and as far as I can see there should be) could it be a bittsa' Either way there will be a 'discussion' on Tue morning.

*LBS not in Wicklow so don't want to point any fingers just yet.

I'd return the bike to the shop right away they've been less that honest with you so its only right they're left holding the baby. Don't let them placate you with sweetners or excuses, absolutely refuse to take the bike. If you settle for this bike it will always be tainted as its less than what you wanted.

just out of interest, what do you mean by no upper brake levers?

Some of the entry level felts have cyclocross brake levers. I wouldn't sweat it not having them as much as it being the wrong bike in the first place and the lies about the groupset!

Id imagine cross levers is what shes on about

    • Z100 is a lower spec than Z95
    • Sora is a level below tiagra
    • No need for a triple in West Wicklow - that's where I live (Donard) and my first road bike is a Felt Z85 compact. Wicklow and Sally Gaps Are doable on a compact even for a newbie.
    • If the shop owner tried to sell you a Z100 as being superior to a Z95 they are being fundamentally dishonest. Pull out and take your money elsewhere. PM me if you want to know where else to go locally for Felt.
