just bought a record player marantz tt42,and hooked it up to my stereo and its very sensitive, even to touch the table its on(if you tap the table its like tapping a microphone, and if you touch the record player itself it gets louder)also if i turn the volume up anyway loud a kind of runaway bass noise starts and gets louder and you have to turn it down.any help would be great.cheers.

you could try isolating the TT from the table by putting something under it.
That "runaway bass noise" is feedback. Don't put the speakers on the same table as the TT.

the player is sitting on an amp,and the speakers are mounted on the wall.i will look at the wiring of the stylus.cheers.

you have just discovered the beauty of hi-fi ownership, millions has been spent ( by consumers ) on isolation products , decoupling etc, i know you wont know what im talking about, but basically as others have said you have to isolate your tt from the vibrations generated by the speakers your tt could also be picking up electrical hum from the amp, best not to keep it on top of the amp, a cheap method is to use two squash balls cut in half ie 4 half balls placed under each corner of the turntable
