    Hi

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas for myself and a friend who are going to Peru for 3 weeks in November. We are doing a tour for the first two weeks which takes in Lake Titicaca, Cuzco, Inca Trail and Machu Picchu and amazon trail. We finish up in Lima on the Saturday and don't plan to fly home from Lima till the following Friday/Saturday. Any ideas on where we could go for the week? Flights home aren't booked so can be changed to another city but do have to be home that weekend as working the following Monday:( I was thinking of sticking around Lima but have heard it may not be a particular safe place /not a lot to do for that lenght of time

    Thanks a mill in advance!

Three options as I see it:

Head north going to mancora, great fish and beach/ surfing.

Head south, Arequipa , nazca lines. Huacachina is amazing. Theres a condor tour from Arequipa but really it's just driving for two days to see birds.

Stay in Lima. I stayed with a local family there and they showed me places you'd never normally see. I think there's enough to do in Lima for a week if you stay with people who know the place and take some trips. You could spend a night in Huacachina while there.

There are also places inland but you'll probably have seen enough mountains at that stage. Note that option 1 and 3 there will require an overnight bus or flight.

+1 for Arequipa....really nice place and lots to do in area...could easily spend 4-5 days there. Definitely do a tour to Colca Canyon, amazing views....you can do a 2 or 3 day trek down where you stay in the oasis at the bottom.

Huacachina near Ica is really beautiful...it is very touristy but again there is sandboarding and dune rides and it is really beautiful.

If you are into trekking check out Huaraz....scenery is unbelievable. Peru is a great country...you will have savage time

Could you also possibly cut the tour short by a day or so and make your own way back to Lima travelling more slowly and taking detours to places missed?

For a lot of tours the last day is just a race back to the airport but don't know the details of yours so don't know how practical this would be?

    Really liked Arequipa, too.

If the tour is similar to the one I did you come back from the amazon via cuzco (plane stopped and people go on/off, we stayed on the plane) before flying onto Lima, I would get off in Cuzco and spend a few days more there, its an amazing place, then head to Arequipa as mentioned above and maybe see the Colca canyon
