Strava frustration

    Guys,

I'm not sure of it is my GPS on my iPhone, the actual strava app or the strava site.

I'm an average cyclist at best (23.5km avg on fairly average terrain spins), but downloaded the strava app ( and follow some lads in work, who then returned the favor - find this helps to motovate me).

i was just going through my las few spins, so set up some private segments ( from my gate out to the village has a nice 'downhill' and on the journey home obviously the oposite would be the case - timing myself on these sections, definitly the coming home one would help me push more) - but now I noticed that strava has started and ended all my spins about 300m short of my house!?!?!? So I cant segment the section I want!!:mad:

Anyone else jhave similar experiences? Am I taking off too soon after starting the app and ending it to soon after stopping at home?

    Ta

In the Strava settings there is a section where you can set the distance from your home address which Strava will exclude from the maps that you upload online, it's a security thing, so i have mine set to 500m. Doesn't mean your ride is not recorded, just not visible on the maps..

so does that mean you cant set segments all the way home if you have this setting set?

Yes, and any segments passing through will go unrecorded as well.

Thanks for the info ... so the frustration is with me setting the privacy zone rather than with strava
