Does anyone still play Socom Confrontation anymore? It was one of my favorite games and I foolishly sold it a few years ago!

What's Socom Special Forces like? I've avoided it because I don't have Playstation Move! Can you play it without? Is it online multiplayer or is it story based?

SOCOM 4 was decent, it annoyed a lot of people who played SOCOM since PS2 - camera positioning too close, showing off character graphics at the expense of what you could actually see. Also it switched to everyone in multiplayer having two primary weapons, no pistols - so sniper/shotgun, or rifle/smg combos, which wasn't a bad thing per se.

It had a campaign, though it wasn't much use - I seem to remember it as waves of enemies coming until you cross the imaginary line to stop them. The single-player has a squad mechanic to send your AI out to specific spots, but it wasn't terribly interesting.

I think it had a co-op mode, but if it did I never played it.

The multiplayer was some use. Level design was adequate. The Move controller didn't seem to give any advantage over just playing with a controller. There were some new bomb squad modes - where you need to protect an armoured bomb tech who needed to defuse three bomb sites (or wipeout enemy team) to win rounds - if the bomb tech dies, despite his armour giving him triple health and him always being equipped with a powerful shotgun and a grenade launcher, then the round is won by the defenders/terrorists.

They took out 'gun hot' so maybe SOCOM 4 is campier than SOCOM Confrontation. None of the weapons had thermal scopes at launch. Also, Abandoned was updated and given free to the community to apologise for a lot of issues the game had at launch (it had lots of problems to start, and coincided with network downtime).

The server browser is gone I think, no lobby system, COD style matchmaking instead, which is a major bad point.

I haven't played in over a year, but I'd doubt the community would last as well due to the new servers, but if SOCOM is your thing it's worth playing if you can find it cheap enough. No Move required.
