Housemate subletting

My housemate is foreign and he's due to go home for 5 weeks holiday.

He announced tonight that he's renting his room out for the 5 weeks.

I'm a little peed off as I'm going to have to live with a stranger/strangers (he says he may get a couple) for those 5 weeks. I think he already has someone in mind.

Am I right to be annoyed? Is there anything I can do?

It's not my house although we are jointly on the lease. The landlord is a bit useless and won't care that he's subletting so long as the rent is paid.

OP - please try the Accommodation & Property forum - unfortunately they do not allow anonymous posting otherwise I would have moved your thread there for you.
