Swivel seats as standard or common option?

    Hey folks.

Currently musing about a possible project so looking into the various bits and pieces that I might need to source, and among them is a pair of swivelling front seats.

As it'd be a budget project I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what older cars came with swivel seats fitted as standard or as a regularly chosen fitted option so I can know which to be looking out for in scrapyards?

I know that the older Galaxy/Alhambra/Sharan from around '98 had them, but I don't know if they were a standard fitment across the range or not? I also seem to remember that some model of Renault Espace used also have them?

I've had a look on ebay to try help and the above are all that came up in my search. There are kits that can be fitted to any seat, but at £175 + shipping PER SIDE its far from a budget solution

Any help would be appreciated. :)

The placement of the spare tire under the front end served to absorb impacts. The most innovative safety feature, which has not been incorporated into other cars, was the ability to swivel the seats to face rearwards should a collision seem imminent.

I do think you can buy a swivel seat kit for any car. For people that need ease of access to their vehicles :)

The older shape Toyota Estima/Previa does too. Think it's only the 7 seater ones you need to be looking out for, not the 8 seaters.

You can. See my original post ;)

Cheapest on eBay is around 175 sterling plus shipping. So over €400 to the door - just for the swivel kit. Not the sort of money I'd be willing to spend if I can pick up a pair of second-hand seats from a scrapyard for less than half the price :)

Hmmm, I must keep an eye out, never noticed it on any customers cars and the sister in laws 04 one certainly doesn't have them as I've had the seats out several times.
