I am going to be teaching young children over in a foreign country and they want a proof that i have no criminal background. I completed a garda vetting form back in october 2011 for a interview for a charity. We had to complete the garda vetting form before joining the charity.

I contacted them recently via email to see could they post me on my garda clearance. They said they would. This was 2 weeks ago, and i still haven't received it.

Whats the delay? is there any other way i can get my garda clearance?

Also main question...is there any other form of police background i can get to prove im not a criminal? I need it in the next couple of weeks!!

    Thanks in advance

You need a police certificate of character. Ring your local district headquarters on Monday morning and enquire about it. Usually you send in a photocopy of a few documents and you should have it fairly quickly.

Pop down to your local station and ask if you could speak to the Inspector, bring proof of address, passport etc and ask him if he can help, they don't have to but just might. If he says no then no harm done.
