Passat startup problem

    hey, my 2002 passat tdi recently is giving me alot of hastle starting up, it happened the odd time over the last few weeks and now its starting up briefly and cutting out, if the accelerator is pumped while starting it seems to help it a bit, any advice would be appreciated cheers!

    Could be several causes. First thing I would suggest would the coolant temperature sensor. They are a common failure. You'll need a scan with VAG-COM/VCDS to check this. Have you had a mechanic look at it?

    I had the mechanic scan the car but no fault codes came up, it starts sometimes ok but other times it kinda refuses to start

    ok unpluged the coolant tempature sensor and it seems to be going ok, hopefully this is the problem cause the sensor is only 7 euros on ebay
