Hi, does anyone have an opinion on Theorema watches, specifically the Paragon. They are for on offer with Groupon in the UK for 150. They look reasonably okay, are they worth a punt at this price.

    Here's a link and picture

Never heard of it before but a quick look on google reveals it to be a "germasian" with an asian movement Shanghai 'B'

seems to have been sold at a discounted price previously for $130 or so

the rrp for your 70% off is a fantasy number

Dont know what the quality would be like but I personally wouldnt buy it..

Looks like a cheap Asian automatic movement with non working chronos. I wouldn't bother.

Cheers for the info, I was thinking as much. Sometimes decent deals crop up so I felt there was no harm checking it out. This will be my next purchase

    Tomekdona,

On the link you posted a poster on the forum said it "looked like a Chinese movement..."

Apologies for nativity (I am relatively new to all this) but how could one tell just by looking at a watch that it has a Chinese movement?

    Thanks

It's as simple as it sounds... by looks. Generally if it's swiss without a proper working chronograph it will be an ETA 2824/2836 or possibly a Stella SW2000. They are easy to spot when you see a few. Could be a Miyota Japanese too but usually you'll find that if a brand are using a recognised movement, they'll advertise it. If there's no mention of movement, and it's a brand that's known to come from Chinese factories, then it'll be a Chinese auto. Nothing necessarily wrong with that either. Some Chinese movements are bulletproof.

Personally I don't rate Theorema and I wouldn't buy one. €300 opens the door to a lot of watches...

Have to agree with nonoperational, I'd buy a big Fossil and use the change for something else

Afraid it appears to be a rip off - the watches actually have a Chinese movement and are worth about €120. As a watch there is nothing wrong with them bit the groupon price is way off particularly when they are claiming a 79% saving

Have a bad experience to share on Theorema watch. Got it for less than a month and it spoil. Send it to Germany with the given shipping address for warranty repair and the company owner claim that he did not receive. Provided the tracking number and it show that it was delivered on 22 May and the owner deny receiving the item. The shipping address and the address shown from their official site is different. You judge it yourself if is it worth buying or risking yourself to send the watch for warranty repair.

Please help to share this with your friends or forum that you know off as I personally felt that this is a fraud since both the local post office from Singapore and Germany had proof that the item was delivered to the given shipping address.

Not surprised. They are 50 $ watches made in china and sold through a tiny shop in Germany by a retired algerian international footballer.

Just for everybody to know. I just bought a Theorema watch from groupon.ie. It's a fake watch. It doesn't work properly. The watch is goes faster than the normal watches. It shows you 5-10 minutes more in an hour than normal watches. I trusted groupon and that's why I bought the watch but it seems that they don't care what they sell and that they disappoint their clients. Everything it's a scam. So be carefull what you buy because you may not get your money back either.

If you have any advice, and if this happened to anyone else, please let me know what you did to get your money back.
    Thanks!

Have you contacted their complaints department? They appear to have one, though further research online seems to show a lot of complaints about the company on a few products.

If you paid by paypal or credit card then open up the dispute with them not groupon. Far more chance of success.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.
