Killarney park in crappy weather...

I was at the national park in Killarney a couple of days ago, my first time there and unfortunately it will be a long time before I get to go again. Beautiful spot if anyone ever gets the chance. Anyway photography wise everything was against me, it was wet, dull, cloudy and given that I was with the family, time was limited - 10 minutes max.

Since I didn’t have long to figure out what to shoot, I decide to go panoramic. Everything in one great big, unprintable, break your PC with the size of the RAW files, shot. Its not something I’ve done much of before, and I know that there are specialist equipment that you can get, not to mention basic landscape dos and don’ts.

    But this was a quicky…

It is always very hard to judge panoramas when printed that small,
hard to see much detail, did you shoot landscape format? When
shooting panoramas it is always best to shoot portrait you end up
with a much deeper picture which looks more balanced. Seems to
be a bit of a curve on the horizon, but stitching looks good.

OP Nice photo, hard to get decent shots these days, sky is usually terrible  Nest time you're down that way seek out O'Sullivan's Cascade, searsh this forum for location and some great shots.

a terrible sky would be a blank featureless cloudy day; there's some interest in the clouds in this shot.

Thanks for the portrait tip, one to remember.

I hadn't intended on showing this photo, it was just a personal thing. The view was fantastic, but with the weather being so bad, the family looking to move on, I had to shoot from the hip. It was taken hand held and as I saw it. In total its a combination of 8 images, so its really long, unprintable which is why it lacks dept on screen. The curve comes from my panning motion, which isn't the ideal way of taking panoramas.

This was more about trying something different and seeing what happens! :D

This is one of the more "standard" photos that I took. But the sky kinda kills it IMHO...
