How easy is it to keep your policy history and move from one country to another? If moving to the UK from Ireland, is it possible to move to Aviva UK or are they two entirely seperate entities does anyone know? Thanks

Ireland and the Uk are two different countries in regards to health insurance.
If you leave Ireland you can cancel your health insurance in Ireland.
If you move back to Ireland at a later date you can take out health insurance again but it will be subject to waiting periods which could be for a long period of time depending on your age. Also you will have a waiting period for pre existing conditions.
At the moment vhi offer a global policy which will give you cover when you are in the uk and as far as I am aware will cover you when you are in Ireland on holidays.
The cover will keep you health insurance policy current here in Ireland so you would not have to fulfill waiting periods at a later date.
I would contact the vhi in regards to this.

The best thing to do is just ring Aviva UK. If you're already with Aviva Ireland, they may look on this favourably. If you're with a different Irish insurer, they probably won't recognise it. Similarly, if you move back to Ireland, your overseas insurance won't be recognised by an Irish insurer unless they have some commercial link to it.
