    hi

after many years over in the apple world, ive now come to own a windows laptop.

ive never needed an anti virus before and am looking for some advice on which one to get.

ive heard Norton is dodgy and very intrusive. So hopefully somenbody here can lead me in the right direction.

    thanks in advance.

Microsoft Security Essentials is good and free, also leave UAC turned on for extra protection

Seconded, there are other free alternatives (AVG, Avast etc) but Microsoft have surprisingly one of the better ones.

Some. Install, update and run MalwareBytes every so often (decline trial of full version). Best tip I can give you is to stop using Internet Explorer and get an adblocker for either Chrome or Firefox

Im personally using Webroot right now since it requires no update process and is incredibly light on system resources. For the most part though, antivirus if more or less as good as your browsing habits. People download a lot of stupid crap on the internet.
