Pain After Temp Filling for Root Canal

    Hi,

I had no issues with my teeth whatsoever & went for my regular checkup.
Was told I needed to replace a few fillings as they were old...etc...

Got one replaced, 2nd last tooth upper right.
3 Days later, in agony with pain......behind my eyeball, my ear, my head, my neck...all that side of my face.
After bursting into tears while trying to eating something I made an emergency appointment.
I went in & was given an antibiotic but was told root canal may be the next step. The filling apparently was very deep/too deep & was causing havoc with the nerve.

Antibiotics did nothing for me & I was in agony.....Got an appointment and I said to go ahead & start the treatment as I was in such pain .....
It was torture as when he started to drill, he realised there was a really bad infection.....the anastehtic's did not work 100% because of this.
After 5 injections I could still feel some of the work being done.
    It was very painful.
But when it was all over, he told me to continue taking the antibiotics and come back in 5 days & replace the temporary filling.
The gap between then & now was quite painless, once he had done the cleaning, temporary filling, I was pretty much ok.

I went back yesterday to have the temp filling replaced & the tooth/root washed & cleansed.............& it's really sore again. I can't eat on that side of my mouth at all.
I woke twice in the night from the pain.....

I asked him twice did I need more antibiotics to get rid of the infection & he said no....
He said the infection is still there but it will go away.....it is improving.

I am scared that I will go through all of this, get root canal & STILL have issues with this tooth.

I just don't know what to do.....has anyone been in this situation & what did they do?

    Tilly.
