    Hi everyone,
I am having big problems with my previous employer and getting my P45.
I had to get revenue onto them a few weeks back.
I received an email with a pdf doc which had my P45.
I asked my current employer if this was acceptable but he didnt know.
so i emailed back for a paper version.
what came in the post today was a printed off version of PDF doc.
I have received P45's before and they do not resemble this.
It;s in black and white and is printed on cheap paper.
    now my question.
Is this acceptable, or is what i have received usless?
where do i go from here?
    thanks

Shouldn't P45s should be printed on cream A4 paper, perforated in 3 parts with a watermark of word " Revenue " on them? Thats what we would always provide to employees and accept from new new employees. Revenue don't provide the carbon type paper, 3 part forms anymore but provide this watermarked paper instead. Does you P45 have a watermark on it ? Is there a certificate number on it ?

Sorry for hijacking the thread, I was recently let go from my part time job after a disagreement with the boss. After waiting a few weeks for my P45 there was still no sign. I text my ex-boss and asked what was the delay? He said he'll only send it out when I send him my letter of resignation? The thing is I never resigned, is there any way of getting my P45 off the revenue and totally by-passing him?

You can check if Revenue have your P45 on file yet. If they do, they can send you a print out. It's not going to look like a standard P45 though.
If they don't have it on file, then you can ask them to try to get it from your ex-employer. It can take months though. It's usually quicker for you to try to get it yourself.

I rang revenue about mine and they got on the case straight away.
I got an apology a week or so later from my old employer.
