Sorry for another 'can you tell me if this bike is good' thread, however i would appreciate some advice.

Im 6 foot 4 and I'm looking for an entry level road bike.
Ive been to about 10 shops and tried loads of bikes however at a stage now where i need to make my mind up.

I was really interested in the Cube Peleton Pro or Race but these seem to be out of stock in my size and Cube aren't making anymore this season.

Then i was looking at the KTM Strada 1000, full Tiagra for €1000 but again I'm struggling to find a 59 (well a 2012 model anyway)

so i was in FitzCycles in Stillorgan last night and they showed me some FORME bikes and also a Stevens San Remo. In fact they were a pleasure to visit.

i found it a nice bike, although a few negatives: its a bit heavy (I'm not sure this is down to having an aluminum fork) and it has a triple crankset (does this make much difference?)

I suppose its important to know that i want a bike not really for a commute but mostly for leisure and a few longer spins at the weekend/ maybe a few sport ifs. So would anybody recommend this bike or have any reason to avoid it etc?

Again, i apologize for starting another thread of this nature but i really would appreciate the advice.

    Roddy

I have no experience on the Stevens brand so I can't advise on that.
The most important bit in your case would be the fit and how comfortable you are on the bike. I wouldn't discard a triple cranckset if your main goal is leasure rides and sportives. There are some steep hills to be found in Ireland and having the small bailout ring can be the difference between still being able pedal or wheeling the bike up the hill.

A carbon fork would be very good to have for the type of riding you have in mind. Not so much for the weight but more for the comfort levels.

    Hi Roddylarge

Can't really throw much light in the way of guidance but you've settled on two of my short list bikes too.

I wouldn't have the same size considerations as I'm just 5'10". I like the fact that both the KTM and the Stevens bikes seem to be fully shimano shod. Not just the bare minimum, but hubs, cranks, bottom brackets too.

For me I think if the Stevens had a carbon fork the San Remo would be the clear winner. I'd be interested in the Canyon Roadlite 6.0 too if you could source it from a LBS. Being my first road bike I'll need that level of support.

Just have to see if the Boss will go for the C to W scheme :)
