    Hi guys,

Sorry if already posted but I've searched & couldn't see it.

Basically just looking for some info, i have my driving test tomorrow morning at 10:00am & I'm taking the test in my driving instructors car. My father has told me he reckons I'll be charged €100 for the use of the instructors car for the test along with the €35 for the lesson i have with him at 9:00am tomorrow morning, surely this can't be right is it? I've asked friends of mine who have took the test in the last 1-2 years but they all said they did the test in they're own car so they didn't know anything about this extra charge,my instructor hasn't mentioned a charge to me either by the way just asking because of the weekend that's in it this weekend i could do with the extra beer tokens. Can anyone help me out with information? Thanks.

I think its roughly €80 but I could be wrong depends on the motoring school and type of instructors car you are using I say. Might vary. Best of luck in the test.

Thanks for the well wished mate. So basically though, stupid as this may sound (because i literally hadn't a clue until this evening) i will be charged for using his car? So long as i know to bring the cash with me too.

Ya you definitely be charged to use your instructors car for the driving test unfortunately.

Of course the instructor will charge for the use of his car. Did you not check this out with him/her?

My mother generally charges her hourly rate for the length of time that the car is being used for, essentially you having teh car prevents the instructor from doing any other lessons so you should be charged for it. Not to mention the fuel you will be using for the hour or so you are driving it.

    No need for that hostility.

He may not have mentioned it, but you also did not ask. There will certainly be a cost. And I reckon 100 is about right.

I'd say around the 100 mark as well but I would of assumed that would include a pre test as well. This is how my instructor does it.

€100 isn't bad. I'd say that pays for 3rd party insurance of some type.

While on this topic, what are peoples opinions of using an instructors car ? Do you stand a better chance of passing ? I dunno why but I have that idea in my head for some reason but I'm just wondering.

Nope, it's just because some people don't have access to a car of their own.

Your best chance is to do the test in a car you are used to driving. If that's your instructor's one, so be it.
