    Evening everybody.

The sister is contemplating changing her 08 Clio for one of the these.

Anybody have any experience with these? So far as I can see, it's a 1.4 CR engine.

I've a few concerns with ther buying a diesel. Although her mileage is within diesel territory, a lot of her weekday driving is stop/ start city driving, so does anybody know of these have the dreaded DMF?

Or alternatively, any suggestions/ alternatives as to what to go for?

It's just her, no kids, and she's 29.

She has said she'd love a Scirocco, but the problem is, she's paying a lot of attention to the "advice" my auld lad is giving her. And he'd definitely be of the mindset that the higher the number on the reg plate, the better.

Any advice/ opinions greatly appreciated as always.

Isn't there a long warranty on these and I think your dad is right in this case.

They get a bit pricey if you go the higher spec in diesel, but it would be my pick of the superminis.

Then again, maybe a Hyundai veloster for 25k might be a good compromise, they have 5 year warranty and don't even come in diesel

She's looking at the TX spec one, which is €19,200. I think she's been quoted €13,000 along with her Clio as a deal.

She had been looking at a 11 Trendline 1.6 TDi Golf fling for €19,500. And if I recall correctly, they were lookin for €14,000 along with the Clio.

Her Clio is one of them Ripcurl spec's, with 81,000 kms on it. And in fairly good nick.

There is the 7 yet warranty on it alright. Which is a major selling point. And out of curiosity, why do you think my Dad is correct?

    Sorry for the shameless bump.

Anybody else for any input on these?
